Hi, I’m Stewart — a midwife, writer, and sometimes-accidental adventurer.
I started this blog to tell the story of my journey through midwifery — from student life to qualified practice, from moments of doubt to sparks of joy.
I currently work in New Zealand, thousands of miles from home in Scotland, and every shift teaches me something new about care, connection, and resilience (sometimes at 3am, usually with snacks involved).

You might know me from Instagram as @arent.you.called.a.midhusband, where I share educational posts, light humour, and glimpses into the reality of life on the wards. This space is a little more personal — a place to reflect, grow, and write honestly about the moments that shape me, both inside and outside the hospital.
Expect stories from practice, reflections on growth, a few laughs, and hopefully a reminder that midwifery is as human as it is clinical. This is for the students, the dreamers, the exhausted shift-finishers, and anyone else who’s ever wondered if they’re doing okay.
Thanks for being here — truly.
